Working, teaching, studying or getting residency abroad? Many countries ask for an FBI background check with an apostille. Because it's a federal document, the apostille comes from the U.S. Department of State, not California. We check your report, submit it and get it back to you.
Price and timeline
Your document goes to the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. with our courier, who is there every business day. As soon as the apostille is issued, it's sent back to our office by overnight FedEx.
12–14 business days is a realistic, door-to-door timeline, not a best case. We check your document before it leaves, so it isn't rejected and sent back. One clear price, government fee included; return shipping to you is the only extra.
Which copy you need
- Your FBI Identity History Summary, with the FBI official's signature and seal.
- Electronic results are fine. Print the whole report, full size, exactly as the FBI issued it. Don't scan, crop, notarize or laminate it.
- A state Live Scan result or a background-check company letter goes through a different process. Send us a scan and we'll tell you what works.
Getting your FBI check
You request it yourself from the FBI, online or through an FBI-approved channeler, and submit your fingerprints. Allow time for this before the apostille.
How recent does it need to be?
The U.S. sets no expiry, but many countries only accept a check issued in the last few months. Check with the office receiving it before you order.
